Richard Pring


was a research consultant on the educational determinants of juvenile criminal policy
Richard Pring (1938-2024) was one of the most distinguished philosophers of education. His contributions to philosophy of education is recognized worldwide. He was a Fellow of Green Templeton College and Director of Department of Educational Studies at Oxford University in 1989-2003. Richard Pring was an editor of the British Journal of Educational Studies 1986-2001. He was recipient of doctor honoris causa from the University of Kent (1984) and from the Institute of Education at University College London (2015). He was also recipient of award distinction from Aga Khan University in Karachi (2007).
Since 2003, Richard Pring was Lead Director of the Nuffield Review of 14-19 Education and Training in England and Wales. This was a six years project, funded by the Nuffield Foundation. He also completed research on the development of the restorative justice programme in schools.
